Honouring Our Heroes: Why Operation Sindoor Was a Necessary Step for India

India has always stood firm against the forces of terror seeking to destabilize our nation. The barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which tragically claimed 26 innocent lives, was a stark reminder of the threats we face. Our hearts mourned for the victims and their families.
But India does not stand idly by. Two weeks after this senseless act of violence, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor. This was not an act of aggression, but a focused, measured, and non-escalatory response to the original escalation initiated by Pakistan with the Pahalgam attack.
Operation Sindoor was a demonstration of India's resolve and capability to protect its citizens. It targeted specific terrorist camps and infrastructure linked to banned organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM). These strikes were carefully aimed at locations clearly connected with cross-border terrorism into India, including four facilities within Pakistan's territory and five in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Our armed forces acted with precision, operating from Indian territory to neutralize these threats. The Ministry of External Affairs made it clear that these strikes were against carefully selected terrorist infrastructure and targets, not civilian or military sites.
This operation sends a powerful message: India will respond decisively to defend itself against terrorism. It was a necessary step to dismantle the infrastructure enabling such attacks.
